11 Comments Need Help With A Name
Let’s say you are a stamping die designer or builder and want to use a blog-type website for searchable and relevant die engineering standards and publications that are accessible from a web browser or smart phone.
Maybe you are a die shop, components supplier, or services company in the stamping die fabrication market that wants to advertise on a site that is targeted to your audience: die engineers and builders.
Which of these web domain names would you rather visit?
- diestandards.com (does what it says)
- diejedi.com (think telepathic information at your fingertips)
- dies-inc.com (inspired by the movie Monsters, Inc.)
If you have an opinion, please click on the Comments tab at the top of this post or send me a message through the contact form.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts and feedback.
I would go with DieJedi.com but that is because I am a Star Wars geek. Realistically, I would go with something more generic and simple to search on the web. I would go with Diestandards or Diemaker or Diebuilder. Just my two coins.
Thanks John … I can always direct diestandards.com to another IP address for search purposes – so the question is really about branding …
Thanks for reading my blog – tell your friends and tell everyone there I said hello.
diejedi.com would stand out in a google search and it the name does stick in the brain. I would go with it.

Hi Shane … you have a good point – especially if I redirect diestandards.com …
Thanks for the feedback!!
I’m liking the name diejedi too, plus you being Yoda to the die industry, I think it’s only fitting. “Strong in you is the die force, die master.”
Obi
LMAO Larry … I don’t know about the Yoda part, but I guess when someone does this stuff day and night and hangs out with super smart guys like you and the gang from the old GM days, one can’t help but learn something along the way.
Thanks for the feedback!
Tim,
Sorry for being a conservative but I’d have to go with Die Standard.com It could be a problem for those in the textile business that can’t spell because us Die Guys don’t deal with Dyes. 1.diestandards.com (does what it says) is the best.
Gene Hargis
Good to hear from you Gene … thanks for the feedback.
I think I have a solution that serves both camps … actually, I am taking all this feedback and noodling on it right now …
Thanks for the help and for reading my blog!
[...] A big thank you to everyone that posted comments and emailed me about my website naming question. [...]
Tim,
I’m not a die guy but a long time sales guy and would go with diejedi as you are targeting to create a brand. DieJedi will stick as a brand.
I would also venture that other die guys or folks looking for this kind of info would likely fall into the Star Wars geek category. (Guilty as well)
Good luck
Hey Keith,
Thanks for the feedback … always trying to decide what sticks versus what sucks.
Grateful for you reading my blog … let’s get together soon!
